It
is through the root or first chakra that we learn how to relate to
our family and society. Through the sacral or second chakra we discover
who we are by experiencing ourselves in relationship to others, through
both our romantic and professional partnerships, and our creative
endeavors. We will now turn our attention to the solar plexus or third
chakra that is located just below the sternum at the top of the diaphragm.
This is the chakra which defines our personal power and relation to
our self. The sacred truth of the solar plexus chakra is to honor
our self. This is not always an easy task.
If our solar plexus chakra is blocked we can suffer from a lack of
energy, fear taking on a challenge, have low self esteem and a lack
of self confidence. If, on the other hand, we have an excess of energy
in the solar plexus we might feel the need to control and dominate
everyone and everything around us. We can be over-competitive, arrogant
and narcissistic.
When
our third chakra is properly balanced we are confident, courageous,
in touch with our feelings and at peace with our self. We temper our
desires and instincts with knowledge. It is through the third chakra
that we put our plans into action and develop a sense of our own personal
power.
One of the major obstacles to balancing the energy of the solar plexus
chakra is victim consciousness. If we feel that we have an unfair
lot in life, that others have advantages we don’t, we will not
be able to become empowered individuals.
To
develop our personal power, we must take responsibility for our lives
and not consider ourselves victims. Both Southern Cross
(Australian Bush) and Yucca
(South African) help us understand that we create all the situations
that happen to us and that we can change our situation by changing
our thoughts. Sunflower
(Alaskan) helps us to balance the expression of our masculine energy
which is necessary to feel truly empowered. Lion
(Wild Earth Animal) helps us claim our deepest personal authority
and spiritual power. It holds the frequency of courage, fearlessness,
leadership, achievement, and success, as well as nurturing a sense
of well being and strength. Empower
(Wild Earth Animal combination) also provides powerful support for
claiming our authentic, inner power.
A lack of self-esteem is a clear sign of imbalance in the third chakra.
Dog Rose
(Australian Bush) helps fearful, shy, insecure people develop confidence,
courage and self-esteem, as well as the ability to embrace life more
fully. Sturt Desert Rose
(Australian Bush) helps eliminate guilt by restoring self-esteem.
It also instills courage, conviction and integrity. Five Corners
(Australian Bush) floods the body with life force energy which helps
us overcome feelings of low self esteem, lack of confidence and lack
of self love.
Cape Almond
(South African) allows us to act from our own authority. It addresses
fear of the unknown, fear of the future, fear of failure, emotional
paralysis and an inability to move forward. It enables us to cultivate
boldness, to develop an innate confidence, and a sense of personal
power. Bumblebee
(Wild Earth Animal) helps us claim our power as a strong and fully
capable person. It nurtures strength, a feeling of invincibility,
and confidence in our abilities. It helps us achieve what otherwise
might seem impossible. Supreme Confidence
(Wild Earth Animal combination) also provides powerful support for
acting with confidence, strength, and power.

information on issues of overcoming fear and gaining self confidence
can be found in our newsletters of Summer
2005 and Autumn
2007.
A strong sense of personal identity comes with a balanced third chakra.
Buis
(DEVA) helps people who are shy and weak-willed to develop their own
individuality without being affected by outside influences. It confers
strength, courage and tenacity to free our selves from the domination
of others. Tamarack
(Alaskan) promotes self-confidence by helping us reach a deeper understanding
of our unique strengths and abilities; it encourages the conscious
development of individuality. Pineapple
(Master’s) is an ideal essence for identity crisis during the
teenage years (“I don’t like myself”); for mid-life
crisis (“Who am I now?”); or for any sudden or dramatic
change in life which leaves us not quite knowing who we are. Pineapple
is also a good essence for money issues as they are often a reflection
of our own poor self-image. For additional information on abundance
see our Winter
2003 newsletter.
When
we are secure in the power of our own being, we are like giant trees
firmly rooted in the earth and able to adapt to changing conditions.
With rootedness and flexibility we can accomplish whatever we set
out to do. Pink Seaweed
(Pacific) can help us adapt to new jobs, new schools, new relationships,
new experiences. It helps us move out of our “comfort zone”
into new and challenging experiences.
If
we insist on clinging to the past and on replaying the old dramas,
we prevent ourselves from moving forward. Bottle Brush
(South African) assists in breaking negative links with the past.
It allows us to digest, assimilate, integrate and move on. It is also
of assistance when we find ourselves at major crossroads in our lives
and during times of change. It gives us the courage to step forward
into new realities. See our Summer
2004 newsletter for more information on adapting to change.
The solar plexus chakra has an important influence on how we define
ourselves. It affects our view of ourselves as individuals, how powerful
or powerless we feel vis à vis the outside world, how capable
we are of manifesting the life we want to live. A healthy well balanced
third chakra is definitely an asset.
